LCM Youth Welcomes Coach Diehl

  Coach Diehl

To our Lacrosse Club of Montclair community,

Effective immediately, we are excited to announce a new partnership with Mike Diehl, MHS Boys Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach, who will work with the Lacrosse Club of Montclair (LCM) on a number of new programs and initiatives. We have a mutual goal of furthering the development of our deep home grown talent and Mike is formally joining forces with LCM to provide structure, coaching content and leadership to our youth offering, bridging all the way to his High School program.

At the outset, LCM aims to add off-season training which Mike will design and oversee. He will bring his network of coaches from MHS and beyond to oversee and execute a consistent plan we will introduce in the coming days with the goal of providing a heightened level of competitive training and play, while fostering the development of camaraderie and chemistry among our boys.

Coach Diehl was named head coach of Montclair’s boys lacrosse program in October 2017 was recently named Fitch-Division Coach of the year in 2019 by NJ.com after overseeing an 8 game improvement in the win column, finishing 11-8 this season. Mike  brings an impressive athletic and academic resume:

Mike started 52 games and played in 59 games over 4 seasons at midfield for Rutgers University, finishing with 59 goals and 17 assists. Following college, Mike played professionally for the Philadelphia Wings of the NLL for 2 seasons. In High School, Mike was a 3-year starter at Hunterdon Central and led his team with 49 goals and 25 assists during the 2007 season. HR 2019

On Saturday, June 1st, in Anderson Park, we celebrated the 23rd Annual Homer Robinson Lacrosse Day, an afternoon dedicated to the memory of Mr. Rob for his dedication to Montclair Lacrosse, its players, and the game.  Montclair Lacrosse is built on the heart and character that Mr. Rob instilled in his players.

The day marked the end of a fantastic 2019 Spring season with intramural games for all Montclair players, past and present.  We wish everybody a great summer and look forward to next year.
